Introduction to User Environment Manager
VMware User Environment Manager is being renamed to VMware Dynamic Environment Manager - watch for more news at VMworld 2019!
VMware User Environment Manager delivers personalization and centrally managed policy configurations across virtual, physical, and cloud-based Windows desktop environments. IT administrators control which settings users are allowed to personalize, and administrators can map environmental settings such as network drives and location-specific printers.
User-specific Windows desktop and application settings can be applied in the context of client device, location, or other conditions. Policies are enforced when users log in, launch an app, reconnect, or when some other triggering event occurs.
User Environment Manager also has a feature for configuring folder redirection for storing personal user data, including documents, pictures, and so on.
Deploy and configure User Environment Manager server-side components. This module will cover creation of management components including GPO, NoAD config file, and more.

Installation Versus Configuration
One of the benefits of User Environment Manager is its simple architecture that requires very little infrastructure to build and scale. Unlike many applications, User Environment Manager has no dedicated server or database. The management console, used to administer the application, and the agent, which runs on Windows desktop or server guest OSs, are both installed using a small Microsoft Installer (MSI) file.
