Deploying Notepad++
In this exercise, we will deploy Notepad++ to our Windows 10 device to see how to configure and deploy an application to your end users and what the end user experience is like for interacting with these applications.
1. Deploying Notepad++ In Workspace ONE UEM
- Click Apps & Books.
- Click Add Application.
1.1. Upload Application File
Click Upload.
1.1.1. Choose Application File to Upload
Click Choose File.
1.1.2. Select the Notepad++ Installer
- Click Documents.
- Click HOL.
- Click Notepad++ Installer.exe.
- Click Open.
1.1.3. Save the Application File
Click Save.
1.2. Configure Notepad++ Application
- Select No for Is this a dependency file.
- Click Continue.
1.3. Configure Application Details
- Enter
Notepad++
for the Name. - Select 64-bit for the Supported Processor Architecture.
1.4. Configure Application Files
- Click Files.
- Scroll down to the App Uninstall Process section.
- Select Input for Custom Script Type.
- Enter
"%ProgramFiles%\Notepad++\Uninstall.exe" /S
for the uninstall command.
1.5. Configure Deployment Options
- Click the Deployment Options tab.
- Enter

for Disk Space Required. - Select MB for the Disk Space Required Units.

- Scroll down to the How To Install section.
- Select Device for Install Context.

1.5.2. Configure When To Call Install Complete
- Scroll down to the When To Call Install Complete section.

- Click Add.
1.5.3. Add Defining Criteria
- Select File Exists for the Criteria Type.
- Enter
%ProgramFiles%\NotePad++
for the Path. - Click Add.
1.6. Configure Application Images
- Click the Images tab.
- Click the Icon tab.
- Click the Click or drag files here button.
1.6.1. Select the Notepad++.png file
- Click Documents.
- Click HOL.
- Click Notepad++.png.
- Click Open.
1.7. Configure Terms of Use
- Click the Terms of Use tab.
- If you wanted to configure a terms of use policy for this application, you would do so here. For this lab, we will leave the Required Terms of Use as None.
- Click Save & Assign.
1.8. Add Assignment
Click Add Assignment.
1.9. Configure Assignment
- Select All Devices ([email protected]) for Select Assignment Groups.
- Select Auto for the App Delivery Method.
- Click Add.
1.10. Save & Publish Notepad++ Application
Click Save & Publish.
1.11. Preview Assigned Devices and Publish
Click Publish
1.12. Confirm the Notepad++ Application Was Added
- Click Apps & Books.
- Ensure the Notepad++ application was added successfully.
