AirWatch Console Configuration - Tunnel Settings

Before we can deploy the AirWatch Tunnel virtual appliance, the product must be configured in the AirWatch Console. This section will walk you through the steps required fro the Virtual Appliance deployment that will be completed during this lab.

  1. Click System.
  2. Click Enterprise Integration.
  3. Click AirWatch Tunnel
  4. Click Configuration
  5. Change the setting to Override.
  6. Enable AirWatch Tunnel
  7. Click Configure

  1. Set Proxy (Windows & Linux) to Disabled
  2. Set Per-App Tunnel (Linux Only) to Enabled
  3. Select Basic from the drop down.
  4. Click Next to continue

2. Configure Hostname and Port Details

In this page you will need to fill in the Host Names, URLs and Ports that correspond to the specific server(s) assigned to you for this workshop.  You should have received an email titled "VMWorld Workshop| Lab Ports and Hostnames", which has the assigned port and hostname values you should enter here.  This email is sent to the account you used to register for VLP and signed into the AirWatch Console with.

Note: If you did not receive, please notify a lab proctor before continuing!

  1. Enter the DNS address assigned to you for the Hostname field (Format: pool##.airwlab.com)
  2. Enter the Port assigned to you for the Port field (Will be between 6000 - 6100).
  3. Click "Next"

  1. Ensure "Use Public SSL Certificate" is unselected
  2. Click "Next"

4. Authentication

  1. Select "Default"
  2. Click "Next"

5. Profile Association

  1. Click "+Add" to create a new profile.
  2. Select iOS from the Platform drop down menu.
  3. Select "Create new profile" as the action from the drop down menu.
  4. Type in a name for the profile that will be created i.e. "iOS AWTunnel"
  5. Click Next to continue.

This will create a profile in the Devices > Profiles > List View page that is assigned to "All Devices" Assignment Group with the Assignment type set to "Optional".

  1. Set the Access Logs option to Disabled
  2. Set the NSX Communications option to Disabled
  3. Click Next to continue

Verify that the configuration summary is correct. Click Save to continue.

8. Download the Virtual Appliance

Download the Virtual Appliance

Once the configuration is saved you will be able to download the installer from the console. Typically, you would select "Download Virtual Appliance" link, which will redirect to the AirWatch Resources portal where the Tunnel Virtual Appliance OVF package is hosted. However, in the interest of time the file has been downloaded to your sever and can be found on the Desktop in the AirWatch Tunnel Appliance Resources Folder.  

Now that the AirWatch Tunnel Settings are configured in the console, the next section goes through how to upload the OVA file to vSphere and retrieve the settings configured in AirWatch.
