Tunnel Deployment Validation

After completing the Tunnel Appliance OVF deployment, the appliance agent starts immediately and Tunnel services will start up after 60 seconds. Follow these steps to log in to the Tunnel Appliance and validate a successful deployment. Finally, connect to the Tunnel appliance Per App VPN from your enrolled iOS device.

Navigate to VMs and Templates and reopen the Console if you have not done so already.

After you complete the deployment, the appliance-agent will start up immediately, but the AirWatch Tunnel service will take up to 60 seconds to boot up the first time you log in. While waiting for this to finish, we will complete the remaining console configuration.

Once the Tunnel Virtual Appliance has completed,  navigate to VMs & Templates in vSphere, click Actions, and select Open Console to log in to the machine.

Accept Security Exception

  1. Click "Advanced"
  2. Click "Add Security Exception"
  3. Click "Confirm Security Exception" to permanently store the exception

Once the exception is stored, you will be presented with the login screen to your virtual appliance.

NOTE: Keystrokes entered for Password will not be displayed on the screen as you type

Confirm Tunnel Configuration

The services take a minute or more to start after the appliance is deployed. All AirWatch Tunnel configuration files can be found in the following folder.

  1. Type "cd /opt/airwatch/tunnel/vpnd/" to navigate to the Per App Tunnel configuration folder
  2. Type "ls", hit Enter to show folder contents

 

Check Services

Type netstat -tlpn, hit Enter

The response shows the TCP ports listening in numerical order. The vpnd service should be listening on port 8443 as configured in the AirWatch console.

Verbose Log Files

The server.conf file in the configuration folder contains the file path for where log files are written as well as the log level setting. By default, Log files are written to the /var/log/airwatch/ folder.
