Publish the X-Ray Viewer via RDSH

In order to access the Hospital Apps via nested mode, we first need to make sure the applications are published.  In this case, the one application we want to deliver (X-Ray Viewer) is on an AppStack. The AppStack is already pushed to to RDSH server - we need to publish it via Horizon

Open the Horizon Console

In Chrome, connect to the Horizon Admin Console on Horizon-01 by clicking the Horizon folder and then Horizon-01-NewAdminConsole.

Log in to Horizon Administrator

  1. Enter Administrator as username
  2. Enter VMware1! as the password
  3. Click Sign in

Click on Applications

Click on the Applications tab to list the current published applications.

Add from Installed Applications

We will now add the X-Ray viewer application as a published application.

  1. Click Add
  2. Click Add from Installed Applications

If you see the image above, the RDSH server is not back online yet. wait another minute or so.  Click on Desktop Pool and back on  RDS Farm.

Select MicroDicom Application

The MicroDicom application is now installed on the RDSH server since the AppStack was attached when the system was rebooted.

  1. Select RDS Farm
  2. Select MicroDicom from the installed application list
  3. Click Next

Add Application Pool

  1. Under Display name enter X-Ray Viewer
  2. Click Submit

Add Entitlement

We now need to entitle the new application to the HOL Healthcare group.

  1. Click Add

Search for HOL Healthcare Group

  1. Type HOL Healthcare in the Name/User name box
  2. Click Find
  3. Click the checkbox to select all results
  4. Click OK

Because of the limited display size in the lab, you may not be able to see the returned HOL Healthcare group when you search for it.

Add the HOL Healthcare Group

  1. Verify the HOL Healthcare group is listed
  2. Click OK

Review Application Pools

Click on the MicroDicom application link

Edit MicoDicom Application

We will now edit the application to use a category folder to add a shortcut for entitled desktop and applications.   This will make it easier to launch programs they use frequently.  To learn more about categories go here.

  1. Click Edit

Edit Application to add Category Folder

  1. Scroll down
  2. Click on Browse under Category Folder

Set Category Folder Settings

  1. Click Select a category folder from the folder list button
  2. Check both the StartMenu/Launcher and Desktop boxes
  3. Type HOL Heathcare as the name of the category
  4. Click Submit

Verify Category Folder and Submit

  1. Verify the Category Folder is called HOL Heathcare
  2. Click Submit

Select Notepad Application

We will also add Notepad++ to the Category Folder.

  1. Click the Application shortcut for Notepad

Edit Notepad Application

  1. Click the Edit button

Edit Category Folder

  1. Scroll down to the Category Folder
  2. Click Browse on Category Folder

Set Category Folder

  1. Click the Select a category folder from the folder list radio button
  2. Check both the StartMenu/Launcher and Desktop boxes
  3. Select HOL Healthcare from the dropdown
  4. Click Submit

Verify Category Folder

  1. Verify the Category Folder is set to HOL Healthcare
  2. Click Submit

Add IC Desktop Pool to Category Folder

Finally, we will add the desktop pool to the Category Folder

  1. Click on Desktops
  2. Click on the IC-Pool1 link

Edit IC-Pool1

  1. Click the Edit button

Browse for Category Folder

  1. Click on Desktop Pool Settings
  2. Click the Browse button to set a Category Folder

Set Category Folder Information

  1. Click the Select a category folder from the folder list radio button
  2. Check both the StartMenu/Launcher and Desktop boxes
  3. Select HOL Healthcare from the dropdown
  4. Click Submit

Verify Category Folder

  1. Verify HOL Healthcare is set as the Category Folder
  2. Click OK

Close the Chrome Browser
