Download the ADFS Federation Metadata XML
To establish trust between Workspace ONE Access and our ADFS instance, you will need to download the ADFS Federation Metadata.
1. Download the Federation Metadata XML
Double-click the Google Chrome icon on the lab desktop.
1.1. Navigate to the Federation Metadata XML Endpoint
Enter https://adfs.corp.local/FederationMetadata/2007-06/FederationMetadata.xml into the address bar and press ENTER.
The FederationMetadata.xml will appear in your downloads bar and will be stored in your Downloads folder. You will access this file later on when configuring Workspace ONE Access.
2. Finding the Federation Metadata Endpoint (Optional)
Before continuing, you may be wondering how to get the Federation Metadata endpoint that you just accessed to retrieve the Federation Metadata XML file. Review the next steps to see how to retrieve the Federation Metadata endpoint from your ADFS server.
2.1. Connect to the Intranet Server (Optional)
Double click the Intranet.rdp link from the Desktop.
For this exercise, ADFS is installed on the Intranet server.
2.2. Open Server Manager
Click the Server Manager icon from the taskbar.
2.3. Open AD FS Management
- Click Tools
- Click AD FS Management
Alternatively, you can search for AD FS Management from the Start menu.
2.4. Locate FederationMetadata.xml Endpoint
- Expand Service under AD FS.
- Click Endpoints.
- Scroll down to find the Metadata section.
- Locate the Metadata object with the type Federation Metadata. Note the URL Path.
The link you used to download the Federation Metadata XML was your ADFS hostname (https://adfs.corp.local) followed by your Federation Metadata endpoint found above (/FederationMetadata/2007-06/FederationMetadata.xml). This is how the Federation Metadata endpoint was found.
2.5. Return to the Main Console
Click the Close (X) button on the Remote Desktop Connection bar at the top of the screen to return to the Main Console.
