Enable User Password Authentication and Policy
In this section, we are going to enable User Password Authentication through Workspace ONE UEM so that we can leverage a basic account from Workspace ONE UEM Console to enroll our device.
We will also change the Access Policies to allow the Workspace ONE UEM user password authentication method to be used for authenticating users with Workspace ONE Access.
1. Navigate to VMware Workspace ONE UEM Settings
- Click Identity and Access Management
- Click Setup
- You may need to click the right arrow (>) to find the VMware Workspace ONE UEM setting
- Click VMware Workspace ONE UEM
2. Enable User Password Authentication through AirWatch
- Scroll down until you see the option for User Password Authentication through Workspace ONE UEM
- Select Enable for this option
- Click Save
4. Add Policy Rule
- Click Configuration
- Click Add Policy Rule
5. Configure the Authentication Method
- Keeping all the options to default, scroll down until you see the authentication options at the bottom.
- Select Password (with Workspace ONE UEM) for the option then the user may authenticate using
- Select Password (Local Directory) for the option If the preceding method fails or it not applicable, then
- Click Save
6. Reorder the Access Policy Rule
- The access policy rule you created will appear at the bottom of the list. Click and drag the widget beside the bottom rule and move it to the top of the list. This will cause the new policy rule to be processed first when authenticating users.
- Click Next.
7. Click SAVE
Click Save to save changes to the new default policy.
9. Switch to Workspace ONE UEM Console
Click on the first tab to switch back to the Workspace ONE UEM Console.
