Setup a Weblink Application and Entitle Users

PREREQUISITES:

This section will review how to create a Weblink Application and how to entitle your synced users to access the application.  

In the VMware Identity Manager Administrator Console,

  1. Click Catalog.
  2. Click New.
  1. Enter "Google" for the Name.
  2. Enter "Google Weblink Application" for the Description.
  3. Click Select File... for the Icon.

1.1.1. Choose the Google.png File

  1. Click Documents.
  2. Click HOL.
  3. Click TM-HOL-vIDM-1803.
  4. Click google.png.
  5. Click Open.

1.1.2. Complete Application Definition

Click Next.

  1. Select Web Application Link as the Authentication Type.
  2. Enter http://www.google.com for the Target URL.
  3. Click Next.

1.3. Save and Assign

Review the configuration as desired and then click Save & Assign.

1.3.1. Entitle All Users to the Application

  1. Enter ALL USERS in the Users / User Groups search bar.
  2. Click the ALL USERS result.

1.3.2. Set the Deployment Type to Automatic

  1. Select Automatic for the Deployment Type.
  2. Click Save.
  1. Click the Tenant Admin dropdown in the top-right corner.
  2. Click Logout.

2.1. Go Back to the Login Page

Click Go back to login page.

2.2. Login as aduser

  1. Enter aduser for the username.
  2. Uncheck Remember this setting.
  3. Click Next.

2.3. Enter the Domain User's Password

  1. Enter VMware1! for the password.
  2. Notice that the domain shows as corp.local, verifying that aduser belongs to corp.local instead of the System Domain.
  3. Click Sign in.
  1. Click Catalog.
  2. Click Open for the Google Weblink Application.
  1. Confirm that a new tab opens the Google homepage (https://www.google.com).
  2. Close the tab to return to the VMware Identity Manager console.

This confirms that you were able to successfully create the Weblink Application, entitle it to your ALL USERS user group, and successfully launch the application for a user.

2.6. Sign Out of the Domain User

  1. Click the User Dropdown.
  2. Click Sign Out.

3. Login as the Tenant Administrator

  1. Enter administrator as the username.
  2. Uncheck Remember this setting.
  3. Click Next.

3.1. Enter the Administrator Password

  1. Enter VMware1! for the password.
  2. Notice the System Domain is displayed since our Administrator account belongs to the local System Domain.
  3. Click Sign In.
  1. Click the User Dropdown.
  2. Click Administration Console.
