Install and Configure the vIDM Connector Service
PREREQUISITES: NONE
This section will review how to configure the vIDM Connector within VMware Identity Manager and how to install the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector.
1. Setup the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector
In the AirWatch Administrator Console,
- Click Groups & Settings.
- Click All Settings.
1.1. Disable Enterprise Integration Services
- Click System.
- Click Enterprise Integration.
- Click Enterprise Integration Services.
- Select Override for Current Setting.
- Ensure that Enable Enterprise Integration Service is disabled.
- Click Save.
1.2. Setup the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector
- Click VMware Enterprise Systems Connector.
- Select Override for Current Setting.
- Ensure that Enable VMware Enterprise Systems Connector is enabled.
1.3. Save the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector Configuration
- You may need to scroll down to find the Save button.
- Click Save.
- Click OK when the prompt confirms the save was successful.
1.4. Download the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector
Click the Download VMware Enterprise Systems Connector Install link.
1.5. Setup Password for the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector Certificate
- Enter "VMware1!" for the Password field.
- Enter "VMware1!" for the Confirm Password field.
- Click Download.
2. Install the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector
Click the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector Installer.exe from the download bar once it completes.
2.1. Confirm Security Warning and Run
Click Run.
2.2. Start the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector Installer
Click Next.
2.3. Accept the License Agreement Terms
- Select I accept the terms in the license agreement.
- Click Next.
2.4. Disable the AirWatch Cloud Connector Feature
- Click the dropdown by the Airwatch Cloud Connector component.
- Click This feature will not be available.
2.5. Enable the VMware Identity Manager Connector Feature
- Click the dropdown by the VMware Identity Manager Connector component.
- Click This feature will be installed on local hard drive..
2.6. Accept the Default Destination Folder
Click Next to accept the default destination folder of C:\VMware\
2.7. Configure the SSL Certificate
- Uncheck the Would you like to use your own SSL Certificate? option
- Click Next
For this lab, you will not be configuring a SSL certificate for the connector. If you wanted to configure your connector with a SSL certificate, you would select that SSL certificate here or you can configure it later by accessing the Connector settings at https://{hostname}:8443
.
2.8. Continue without Activating the Connector
- Select No for Would you like to activate the Connector now
- Click Next
In this lab, we are only interested in installing the VMware Identity Manager Connector at this point. We will activate the Connector later once we have setup the Connector in our VMware Identity Manager Admin Console and have access to the Activation Code. As stated by the installer, this can be updated later by accessing the Connector settings at https://{hostname}:8443
.
2.9. Setup the Service Account Configuration
- Ensure the Would you like to run the Connector service as a domain user account option is enabled.
- Enter
corp\administrator
for the User name. - Enter
VMware1!
for the Password. - Click Next.
2.10. Start the Install Process
Click Install.
2.11. Close the VMware Enterprise Systems Connector After It Completes
Click Finish.
